This is due to contamination of the silicone which occurred during the supplier's chip manufacturing process. When the problem occurs the engine may lose power and stop and cannot be restarted.

On affected vehicles the smaller capacity brake fluid reservoir may cause the Red warning lamp in the instrument cluster to illuminate before the pads have reached their wear limit.
