An engine oil pan retaining bolt which is too short may have been fitted during production. This retaining bolt also serves as a fixing point for the alternator/starter cable duct at the engine block. If the vehicle is involved in a collision and the cable duct is not properly attached, it could be dislodged and create a short circuit involving the unfused cables.

This concern was found by Nissan Motor Company Japan during side impact testing however at this stage we have no reported cases of this incident in Australia.
