Due to a faulty metallurgical process the hose fitting on the left rear park brake cable may detach and cancel the holding effect of the handbrake. This can also occur after the vehicle has been parked.

Certain vehicles which visited an authorised Mercedes-Benz workshop between 15-17 April 2008 and 5-10 June 2008 may have received a partially incorrect software update affecting some electronic control units. Unfortunately in these individual cases the software downloaded from the manufacturer by the workshop was inconsistent with the vehicle build specification. Under the most unfavourable circumstances this could affect the engine cut-off in the event of a collision, the on-board diagnosis function, or the fuel sensor and speedometer signal.
