Due to a manufacturing defect, the safety chain fitted to the caravan may be underrated for the caravan’s Aggregate Trailer Mass (ATM). In the event of the caravan unhitching from the tow vehicle whilst in transit, the safety chain may fail resulting in the tow vehicle becoming detached from the caravan.

BYD is conducting a Voluntary Safety Recall on all affected vehicles. The rear centre seat child restraint anchorage and front passenger seat as a safety precaution should not be used with a child seat until we have carried out a minor modification. The modifications will be carried out in accordance with Australian Design Rules. Additionally, the front passenger airbag switch may be unintentionally disengaged via a switch in the front passenger side of the vehicle. If the switch is set to the off position the passenger front airbag will not deploy in the event of a collision.

Due to a manufacturing defect, diodes may have been soldered to the printed circuit board, instead of transistors, in accelerator pedals during assembly. In the event of voltage peaks, the diode may become damaged and the accelerator pedal sensor may fail. This failure can result in a lack of throttle response and cause the vehicle to coast to a stop. In the case of a failure of the accelerator pedal, the cruise control function may also be deactivated. Note: The function of the brakes, illumination and warning lamps remain ensured in the case of the occurrence of damage.
