Defect

Due to a manufacturing issue, the rear differential pinion shaft could break, resulting in a loss of motive power or loss of the park function when the vehicle is stationary. Note: Malfunction indicator warning light may illuminate displaying diagnostic trouble codes P174E, P0A2F, P019C, or P27B2.

Hazard

A loss of motive power or unintended movement when parked increases the risk of an accident and serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users, and pedestrians.

Remedy

Ford will be writing to customers asking them to contact their authorised Ford Dealer or Ford Customer Relationship Centre on 13 FORD (13 3673) to have the work carried out free of charge.
