Defect

Due to a software issue with the high-voltage battery Electronic Control Unit, the electric drive system may shut down. This could lead to a loss of motive power resulting in “EV System Malfunction” warning message appearing in the instrument cluster and multiple malfunction indicator lamps illuminating. Note: Power steering and power assisted braking will continue to operate as normal.

Hazard

A loss of motive power whilst driving could increase the risk of an accident, causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.

Remedy

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Toyota and asked to arrange with their preferred Toyota dealer to have the software updated, free of charge.
