Category: Light Vehicle · Supplier: SUBARU (AUST) PTY LTD
Recall date: 12 September 2025
Due to the programming of the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) control ECU software. Under certain conditions, such as a specific failure mode of the electric compressor, the HVAC system will enter a failsafe mode that suspends the heater operation of the system and affects defroster function.
Under certain driving conditions such as low temperatures, the defrosting performance reduces and may not remove frost, ice and/or fog from the windshield glass. This can reduce the driver’s visibility increasing the risk of an accident, causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.
Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Subaru Australia requesting they make an appointment at their preferred Subaru dealer to rectify the vehicle, free of charge. Alternatively, Book Online at your nearest Subaru Service Centre by visiting our website at subaru.com.au/retailers and simply enter your postcode and select “Service” from the Department drop down menu. A selection of your nearest Subaru Retailers will be displayed including their contact details to allow you to book online or by phone.
