The automatic locking retractor (ALR) of the rear middle seat may not lock correctly when used with a child restraint. This may result in the child restraint not being tightly secured in the vehicle.
In the event of an accident or hard braking where the child restraint is not securely fastened, the child may not be adequately restrained in their seat. This may result in an increased risk of injuries.
Owners can still drive their cars, however should make an appointment with their retailer as soon as possible to get this repaired. In the meantime, owners should avoid installing a child restraint system in the rear seats middle position and instead opt to use the LATCH system to secure a child restraint seat.
