Category: Light Vehicle Β· Supplier: Tesla Motors Australia Pty Ltd
Recall date: 21 June 2017
Airbag deployments in right hand drive Model X vehicles are commanded by the vehicleβs restraint control module (RCM), which requires a valid occupant classification value to deploy the passenger front airbag. In this vehicle the RCM doesn't receive a value that it recognises as valid so it will not deploy the passenger front airbag in the event of a crash.
Non-deployment of the passenger front airbag in a crash may increase the risk of injury to the front passenger.
Tesla will send 'over the air' update with the corrected firmware. Customers should simply accept the over-the-air software update they receive. When accepting the firmware update, the customer can choose to install the update immediately or schedule the firmware update to be installed later. Tesla strongly recommends to accept the software update immediately.
