Category: Light Vehicle ยท Supplier: Subaru (Aust) Pty Limited
Recall date: 9 June 2015
In the event of a brake lamp switch (BLS) failure in an affected vehicle, the PCB system may not operate as intended in an emergency braking situation, or may fail to properly engage the brakes when the vehicle has been placed in ACC mode. This is due to a software programming issue. The condition does not affect the performance of the brakes when engaged by the driver.
If the vehicle suffers a BLS failure, the braking performance of the PCB system and/or the ACC system may be compromised and may not work as intended, which in a worst case scenario, may lead to an accident.
The Recall Rectification Procedure consists of down-loading a modified program into potentially affected vehicles. Known owners will be contacted by mail and asked to bring their vehicle to their authorised Subaru Retailer for rectification.
