Defect

In extreme cases the oil dipstick tube closing plug may leak. It is also possible that the engine wiring harness may chafe on a mounting bracket.

Hazard

There is a possibility of oil contacting hot engine components. There is also a possiblility of a short circuit occuring should the wire harness chafe on a mounting bracket.

Remedy

Letters will be sent to affected owners. Owners are advised to contact their authorised Mecedes-Benz dealership to have the closing plug replaced with a modified type and a protective cover fitted to the mounting bracket, free of charge.
