Category: Motorcycle ยท Supplier: Yamaha Motor Australia Pty Ltd
Recall date: 13 November 2013
Yamaha has determined that the resistance in the wire harness between the APS,TPS and ECU may increase due to a manufacturing defect in the wire harness at the time of production. Under this condition, the output voltage APS /TPS may read out of specifications and send an incorrect signal to the ECU.
If the defect occurs, it is possible that the engine speed may not return to idle even if the throttle grip is returned to closed position while riding. This poses a hazard to the rider and other road users.
Yamaha has written to all affected owners. Consumers should contact their local Yamaha dealer to set up an appointment and have the motorcycle remedied free of charge.
