Defect

On certain Polo vehicles of a limited production period, the welding on the towing eye in the vehicle tool kit may fail. When in use, the towing eye may tear as a result of forces exerted on it.

Hazard

In the event that the towing eye is torn, the towrope may sling back and cause an injury.

Remedy

Owners will be contacted by direct mail. Owners should contact their nearest Volkswagen dealership to arrange an inspection and repair of the vehicle.
