Defect

The gearshift lever resting position may mislead drivers into believing their vehicle is in the Park position when actually the vehicle's transmission is still in a drive gear.

Hazard

There could be unintended movement of the vehicle with the possibility of damage to the vehicle and/or personal injury where the driver attempts to exit the vehicle prior to selecting the Park position.

Remedy

Customers should contact their Maserati dealer who will replace the driver's side door lock and the software update of all ECUs will introduce the drive away inhibition strategy free of charge.
