Certain batches of sunroof motors had incorrect software installed and may not have an automatic safety stop function. When the sunroof is closing, it will not automatically stop when it is obstructed.
Without the automatic safety stop function, the motor will continue to close the sunroof glass, which may result in an injury to a person if a body part is caught between the glass and the sunroofβs window frame.
Hyundai will contact affected i30 owners. Consumers will be instructed to take their vehicle to an authorised Hyundai dealership to have the vehicle inspected. If the sunroof motor is found to be faulty, it will be replaced free of charge.
