Defect

The electronic Run-on Water Pump (ROWP) fitted to certain Transit and Transit Custom vehicles aids cooling after the engine has been stopped. Vehicles have been built with a 15A fuse to protect the ROWP in case of failure. If the ROWP fails, the 15A fuse will not prevent the ROWP from overheating.

Hazard

If the ROWP overheats, it could cause localised melting of the pump body and wiring. In extreme cases this could lead to smoke and possibly an engine compartment fire.

Remedy

Ford will contact owners of all affected vehicles to arrange for inspection and repair, free of charge. For further information, consumers can find their nearest Ford dealer at http://www.ford.com.au or contact Ford's Customer Relationship Centre on 1800 503 672.
