Defect

When using child seats with ISOFIX mounting and additional support on the vehicle floor, it can lead to fatigue fractures of the ISOFIX retaining brackets. Causing the ISOFIX brackets to crack around the welded point in the vehicle.

Hazard

If the retaining bracket breaks, the ISOFIX child seat may not be correctly secured in the vehicle, resulting in a risk of serious injury to the child.

Remedy

Owners should not use an ISOFIX child restraint in their vehicles. Known owners will be contacted by BMW Group Australia Ltd or a BMW dealer. Consumers may contact an authorised BMW Service centre, or call the BMW Group Customer Interaction Centre on 1800 813 299 to arrange inspection and repair.
