Defect

Due to a manufacturing fault in the hydraulic unit brake booster, panic braking could cause loss of brake power assistance and the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) without prior warning. Although the electronic brake force distribution function is maintained, the loss of the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) may result in reduced braking performance.

Hazard

The reduction in braking performance could increase the risk of an accident and injury to vehicle occupants or other road users. In the event of a serious accident, this may result in death.

Remedy

Consumers can contact an authorised BMW Service partner, or call the BMW Group Customer Interaction Centre on 1800 813 299 to arrange inspection and repair.
